Unit Manager of Auto Physical Damage
Travelers Insurance- Pittsburgh, PA

SUMMARY:
Manage all aspects of a unit consisting of approximately 7-9 inside claim representatives who investigate, evaluate and negotiate auto physical damage claims, both 1st party and 3rd party. Responsible for product quality, customer service, performance metrics, and expense management within unit as well as contribute more globally to the business line and entire claim operation.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Attract, Retain and Develop World Class Talent: Implement a strategic staffing strategy to proactively recruit top talent. Effectively provide training and coaching to develop staff.
Provide Compelling Claim Services: Employ proper claim handling techniques that wow the customer, protect their financial interests, and attract new customers to Travelers. Monitor results of unit through individual file reviews and use of extensive management information.
Expense Management: Operate with expense budget to achieve optimal business results through productivity, appropriate resource allocation, inventory management and loss adjustment expense.
Partner for Mutual Success: Develop and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, business partners, customers, agents, regulatory agencies and others.
Participate in internal and external business meetings and agency visits as required.
Key Competencies include: Lead change, drive results, maximize individual performance of self and staff, hold others accountable, communicate effectively and influence others, flexibility and prioritization.
Education / Work Experience
-College degree preferred or equivalent work experience
-Claim or operations experience (3-5 years)
-Customer service experience preferred
-Computer skills including Microsoft Office (WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint, etc.)
-Familiarity with Management Information reports preferred
Miscellaneous
-Staff will be comprised of approximately 6 - 7 claim handlers
-Position located in Pittsburgh, PA
-Participation in weekly meetings with peers and Executive Management Team
-Must have experience managing a team of auto claims handlers in your past.
