Unit Manager of Auto Liability Claims

Travelers Insurance- Pittsburgh, PA or Wyomissing, PA office

 **SUMMARY
Coach, lead and direct a team of Auto Liability claim (injury) handlers to ensure the timely and appropriate handling and resolution of claims, while achieving established operational and file quality goals.  Performance assessment and feedback to staff are necessary continuously, with staff development a key aspect of the role.

 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Establish challenging goals and monitor compliance through review of various management informational reports 
-Conduct file reviews to assess and impact overall file quality and resolutions 
-Spend time with staff in the field to assess and mold the behaviors necessary to assure prompt investigations, development of rapport with injured claimants, and appropriate resolutions
-Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with staff to keep them informed and to instill sense of team
-Provide appropriate feedback to staff to assure continually improving work product and overall results.  Rewards / recognition to be utilized accordingly.
-Address performance management issues timely and effectively
-Continuous involvement in the interview / selection process
-Work closely with staff to assure appropriate development
-Work closely within statewide team of Auto Liability managers to assure consistency
-Build and maintain effective communication with business partners and agents
-Communicate effectively with Executive Management Team and keep them informed as appropriate on issues of importance
-Periodic project management involvement

 Education / Work Experience
-College degree preferred or equivalent work experience
-Claim or operations experience (3-5 years)
-Customer service experience preferred
-Computer skills including Microsoft Office (WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint, etc.)
-Familiarity with Management Information reports preferred 

 Miscellaneous
-Staff will be comprised of approximately 6 - 7 claim handlers (mostly inside staff but some may be field staff)
-Position located in
Pittsburgh, PA or
Wyomissing, PA office
-Participation in weekly meetings with peers and Executive Management Team
-Must have experience managing a team of claims handlers in your past.
