MCDONALD'S USA PRESIDENT DON THOMPSON RECEIVES 2008 "CORPORATE EXECUTIVE"TRUMPET AWARD

 

 

(BLACK PR WIRE) OAK BROOK, IL (February 29, 2008)-Don Thompson, president of McDonald's USA, was recognized for this corporate leadership and accomplishments at the 2008 Trumpet Awards. The awards, taped in Atlanta on January 12, will air nationwide on the MyNetwork TV channels on March 1 with a national airing on TV One on April 13. Thompson received the organization's Corporate Executive Award, presented during the show by radio leader and philanthropist Tom Joyner. Thompson is the first African American to serve as president of McDonald¡¦s USA, the largest division of the global company.

 

As president of McDonald's USA, Thompson oversees the strategic direction and the overall business results of McDonald's 13,700 restaurants. Thompson is currently leading McDonald's into its fifth consecutive year of positive growth. Much of this growth is a result of innovative initiatives derived under his leadership, including the introduction of new beverage choices, including the launch of its Premium Roast Coffee and new specialty coffee beverages, and new chicken items including the Snack Wrap®.

 

Since joining the company in 1990 as a restaurant system engineer, Thompson has held several leadership positions and was previously the chief operating officer for the company where he oversaw the day-to-day restaurant operations for the entire U.S. business, and was instrumental in establishing and executing the U.S. strategic growth plan. He was named president of McDonald¡¦s USA in 2006.
