AIG Names Terri D. Austin Chief Diversity Officer

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--American International Group, Inc. (AIG) has announced that Terri D. Austin has been appointed Chief Diversity Officer for AIG, a new position based in New York. Ms. Austin will report to Steven J. Bensinger, AIG Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

The Chief Diversity Officer will provide executive oversight and leadership for AIGs diversity efforts worldwide. Ms. Austin will be responsible for expanding and implementing AIGs diversity initiatives in the workforce, as well as those relating to AIG products, suppliers, vendors, and its customer base.

Ms. Austin joined AIG in 1990 as an Assistant General Counsel for the Corporate Law Department where she handled a variety of litigation matters including employment and reinsurance. From 1995 to 2004, she served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of AIG Domestic Claims. Most recently, Ms. Austin served as the Chief Compliance Officer for AIGs Domestic Brokerage Group with oversight for compliance with federal, state and local laws. Prior to joining AIG, she held positions as a litigation associate at a law firm in New York and as Assistant Counsel with the New York City Law Department.

Ms. Austin received her Juris Doctor degree and a masters in journalism from Columbia University. She earned her bachelors degree with honors in political science from Grinnell College in Iowa.
