Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organizations fiscal function and performance, including but not limited to: general accounting, data processing, purchasing, accounts payable, payroll & accounts receivable so that it is in accordance with corporate policies and procedures and consistent with policies on ethical practices. 2. Develop and be responsible for an accounting system that is sufficient to provide: timely and an accurate budget for the corporation including for new and on-going grants, and a system that can ensure accurate financial reports and trend analysis in order to assist the President & CEO and the Board perform their responsibilities. 3. Attend the monthly board of directors meeting to be a resource to the Board Treasurer and President and CEO as appropriate. 4. Meet the requirements of external funders, government agencies, and auditors using the circular A-133 and other guidelines as appropriate. 5. Develop, enhance, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the corporation so that it will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation. 6. Ensure internal controls are appropriate to safeguard the corporations assets. 7. Provide supervision, guidance and training to the staff in Accounting, Billing, Claims Management and other appropriate staff. 8. Provide technical advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline including the education of department managers on financial issues impacting their budgets 9. Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position. 10. Participate and advise on the impact of long range planning, new programs/strategies and regulatory action. 11. Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the corporation, i.e., evaluation of potential alliances, financial impact of contracts, pension funds and investments. 12. Experience working with external auditors.
Compensation: $100k - $150k
Experience: 1. Minimum of fifteen years of combined related career advancement and education equivalent to a BA or completion of business school with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance 2. Proven experience as a CFO with appropriate industry experience, preferably in the health or social services field and in the non-profit world. 3. An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image. 4. A strategic visionary with sound technical skills, strong analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus. 5. A well-organized and self-directed individual who is politically savvy, articulate and intelligent. 6. A team player .who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills. 7. A good educator who is trustworthy and willing to share information and serve as a mentor. 8. An excellent negotiator who is experienced in contracts. 9. An individual who is well versed in computerized financial systems and has a strong educational and applied computer background. 10. Proven ability to manage multiple functions, grants, contracts and lines of business.. 11. Proven experience in supervision. 12. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. 13. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external parties. 14. Possess strong work ethics.
