Ed Magee has been promoted to General Manager of Capitol Drive Powertrain Operations, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Wauwatosa, Wis. Magee continues to play a prominent role in strategy and development at Harley-Davidson since joining the organization in 2003. As General Manager of Capitol Drive Powertrain Operations, Magee is responsible for the Company’s remanufacturing program and for the production of transmissions and engines for all Sportster and air-cooled Buell motorcycles. “My promotion to General Manager of Powertrain Operations Capitol Drive reflects Harley-Davidson’s commitment to a workforce that reflects the expanding demographics of its customer base. As a rider and motorcycle enthusiast, the opportunity to be an integral contributor to a product that defines H-D as The Motor Company is for me, the epitome of “Living the Dream.” Magee’s first position at Harley-Davidson was at the York Vehicle Operations facility in York, Pa., where he worked for the Materials organization developing and mapping material process flow, while contributing to the start up of the Softail plant. While serving as Process Lead for Manufacturing Engineering at the Kansas City Vehicle and Powertrain Operations facility in Kansas City, Mo., Magee’s Six Sigma Black Belt certification resulted in the plant receiving a 2006 U.S. EPA Region VII Environmental Excellence award in energy management. In his previous role as Director, Service Strategy and Technical Communications, Magee developed and launched Digital Technician II, the next generation electrical system diagnostics tool to 1400+ Harley-Davidson dealerships around the world. Preparation and dedication through education have propelled Magee to the ranks of executive status at Harley-Davidson. Magee earned a bachelor of science in mathematics in 1987 from the U.S. Naval Academy.
