ACLU: The ACLU has actively supported the struggle for lesbian and gay civil rights since the 1960s and in 1986, it established its national Lesbian and Gay Rights Project. Gay and Lesbian Activists Alliance of Washington, DC: The nation's oldest continuously active gay and lesbian civil rights organization. Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD): GLAAD is dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate and inclusive representation of people and events in the media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation. Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund: The Victory Fund is the nation's largest LGBT political action committee and the only national organization dedicated to increasing the number of openly LGBT elected officials at all levels of government. Since 1991, the Victory Fund and its national donor network have helped hundreds of openly LGBT candidates win election to local, state and federal offices.  Gender Public Advocacy Coalition (GPAC): The Gender Public Advocacy Coalition (GenderPAC) works to end discrimination and violence caused by gender stereotypes by changing public attitudes, educating elected officials and expanding legal rights. GLSEN: The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, or GLSEN, is working to ensure safe and effective schools for all students. Human Rights Campaign: Working for Lesbian, gay bisexual and transgender equal rights. Lambda Legal: Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, the transgendered, and people with HIV or AIDS through impact litigation, education, and public policy work. Log Cabin Republicans: The nation's largest gay and lesbian Republican organization - founded to battle the nation's first anti-gay ballot measure - California's Proposition 6 in 1978. National Center for Lesbian Rights: NCLR is a national legal resource center with a primary commitment to advancing the rights and safety of lesbians and their families through a program of litigation, public policy advocacy, free legal advice and counseling, and public education. In addition, NCLR provides representation and resources to gay men, and bisexual and transgender individuals on key issues that also significantly advance lesbian rights. National Directory of Lesbian and Gay Community Centers: LGBT Community Centers exists to support and enhance lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community centers, which are engines of community organizing and liberation, and crucial to the health and strength of LGBT communities. National Stonewall Democrats: The National Stonewall Democrats is a grassroots network connecting LGBT Democratic activists with more than 90 chapters across the country. Stonewall is a grassroots force for social change within our movement and within the Democratic Party. National Transgender Advocacy Coalition : Works for the advancement of and the attainment of full civil rights for all transgendered, intersexed and gender variant people in every aspect of society and actively opposes discriminatory acts by all means legally available. National Youth Advocacy Coalition: Social justice organization that advocates for and with young people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning (LGBTQ) in an effort to end discrimination against these youth and to ensure their physical and emotional well being.
